Exploring The Appalachian Trail (DVD)

DVD created by CNY Hiking.  "Exploring The Appalachian Trail" is 1 hour 27 minutes of hiking along the Appalachian Trail. 

Did you ever wonder what the trail looked like before you hiked it?  Here it is, as you'll see the white blazes, the rock steps, the vista's, the steep sections, the rock outcrops and for this dvd, you'll know why they call Pennsylvania - "Rocksylvania".  It's not the hikes step by step, but it will give you an idea on what to expect.  All the hikes are set to background music.

Exploring The Appalachian Trail - Volume 1 features six great hikes along the Appalachian Trail.  Five of the hikes are located in Northeastern Pennsylvania and one in New Jersey. 

Here they are:

• Delaware Water Gap to Mount Minsi -->  Watch as we ascend 1000 feet along the AT to a view point on Mount Minsi.  There are other views along the way as well as great rock steps.
   
• Pochuck Boardwalk ---> Watch the hike along the famous Pochuck Boardwalk and suspension bridge.  This one mile long boardwalk in New Jersey was years in the making.

• Weathering Knob -->  Rocksylvania at its best, but with a view.

• Wind Gap to Hahn's Lookout --->  This hike starts off along a busy highway and then ascends up numerous switchbacks to arrive at the views, first from Lookout Rocks, then at Hahn's Lookout.  Watch closely and you'll see each of the switchbacks as we climb along this great section of the AT.

• Fox Gap to Wolf Rocks --->  Rocks, rocks, everywhere you look, rocks.  But once you arrive at Wolf Rocks, more rocks, except with views.

• Fox Gap to Lunch Rocks ---->  Watch as we pass the Kirkridge Shelter, where many thru hikers have stopped to rest.  Soon we arrive at the surprising view from Nelson Vista and for a finale the panoramic views from Lunch Rocks.  The leaves were changing when we made this video.

The intro to this DVD is from Sunrise Mountain in New Jersey and includes video of the Sunrise Shelter.  The closing video is from High Point State Park in New Jersey, first from an observation deck along the Appalachian Trail and then from the base of High Point Monument.  Many of the videos feature Scrappy, our hiking dog.  You'll get a great idea of steep sections while you watch Scrappy climb the trail.  The picture is Scrappy enjoying the view from Nelson Vista.
