Finger Lakes National Forest
The Southslope Trail is located at the southern end of the National Forest. The trail passes through hardwood as well as conifer stands and crosses a small stream (dry at times). It is a short 0.75 mile, easy trail that intersects the Interloken Trail, which is a portion of the Finger Lakes Trail System as well as the main Finger Lakes Trail, which coincides with the North Country National Scenic Trail. The trail crosses Burnt Hill Road, where there is a small parking area for 3-4 cars.
There is a campsite located just off the trail west of the parking area off Burnt Hill Road. The trail travels through a field before reaching the Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail. The Southslope Trail and the Interloken Trail are the only trails in Finger Lakes National Forest that intersect with the FLT/NCT.
You can create a pleasant, short loop hike of just over two miles, utilizing the Southslope Trail, the Interloken Trail and the FLT/NCT.
