G Lake is located in Ferris Lake Wild Forest in the southwestern Adirondacks off NY 8 in Hamilton County. A 2.1 mile dirt road leads to a parking area near the lake, then an easy 0.4 mile trail takes you to the shore of G Lake. This is a great leg stretcher for anyone traveling along NY 8. The lake is somewhat shaped as a G, hence its name. The access road is not plowed in winter.  There are primitive campsites located along the road as well as near the parking area and on the lake accessible by boat.

From the parking follow the trail past the rock barrier.  At 0.2 miles an old road on your left leads to the west shore and to the peninsula, it is overgrown but you can still make it out. The main trail bears right and another junction is reached just prior to the end of the trail. The left fork leads to a campsite under pines trees near the lake. This is where you have best access to the lake. Straight ahead is an old road that goes around the north shore of the lake for those who like an adventure and bushwhacks. It is overgrown but you can make out the old road.

You'll find G Lake Road off NY 8 about 2.5 miles west of North Shore Road (Piseco Lake).  The GPS coordinates are N43 22.941 W74 38.714 for those who have a GPS devise. There are a couple of pictures and maps below to assist you in planning your adventure at G Lake.
