The High Peaks Region of the Adirondacks is easily the most popular area with visitors.  Many visitors to the area explore the 46 ADK High Peaks. You'll find the High Peaks Region in the Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Keene area.  There are other great hiking opportunities in the area besides the 46ers as you'll see by exploring the links below.

You'll find many great hiking adventures in the High Peaks Wilderness, Dix Mountain Wilderness and Giant Mountain Wilderness in this region. Many of the hiking trailheads in this area fill quickly on weekends, especially during long holiday weekends.  Also be sure to explore John Brown Farm State Historic Site while you are in the High Peaks Region. Visitors to the Lake Placid area should check out the Heaven Hill Trails and Henry Woods Preserve. You will also find great hikes nearby in the East-Central Adirondacks and NE Adirondacks.
