This 11.5 mile section of the North Country Trail features beautiful Wiscoy Creek and the Genesee River Valley as the NCT reaches the Genesee River on what locals call the Whiskey Bridge. The NCT coincides with the white blazed Finger Lakes Trail along this section of the trail. Much of this stretch of trail is located on PRIVATE PROPERTY and there is a section of the trail that is CLOSED for hunting. Look below for more details.

This section of trail is fairly level except for one section where the trail descends 400 feet toward NY 19A, the Genesee River Valley and the Genesee Valley Greenway. This trail is one of hundreds of greenways being developed across the nation along old canals, abandoned rail beds, and riverbanks. The Genesee Valley Greenway passes through scenic woodlands, river and stream valleys, rolling farmlands, steep gorges, and historic villages located in sixteen towns in Monroe, Livingston, Wyoming, Allegany, and Cattaraugus counties in New York State. The North Country Trail follows the GVG for just over one mile.

This section ends as the trail crosses the Genesee River on the Whiskey Bridge. This is also the southern terminus of the Letchworth TrailThis is the closest the North Country Trail passes to Letchworth State Park.  I would recommend a trip to this wonderful state park if you are in the area.  This park is sometimes called the grand canyon of the east. Look below for a few pictures, a detailed description and a couple of maps of this section of trail.
