Hiking in Cortland County
This is a very popular hike that is mostly on private land and partly on state land. Stay on the trails, especially on PRIVATE LAND. This area is also heavily hunted during hunting season. Please take precautions or avoid hiking during hunting season.
Officially this hike is listed as a 5.5 mile loop hike. I came up with 5.0 miles when I gps'd my hike. Either way it's a pleasant hike, however there is some road walking involved. This loop utilizes the Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail and Spanish Loop Trail.
There is a 500+ elevation gain for this moderate loop hike. Look below for directions, a map and detailed description of this very popular hike. This trail is part of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System that runs from Allegany State Park to the Catskills.
This hike is featured in the book Take A Hike - Family Walks in New York's Finger Lakes Region.
