You'll find information about the 151 mile stretch of
the Appalachian Trail
along the North Carolina/Tennessee border between Davenport Gap and US 19E by using the

assist in planning your AT adventure.
At Davenport Gap the Appalachian Trail leaves
behind Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Dogs are allowed on the
trail once again. The trail winds it way along the North
Carolina/Tennessee border through numerous gaps and over many
mountains with spectacular views. There are 17 shelters along this
stretch of the trail.
There are many memorable
places along this long stretch of the Appalachian Trail including
Max Patch, Lovers Leap, Blackstack Cliffs, Big Butt, Big Bald,
Little Bald, Nolichucky River, Beauty Spot, Unaka Mountain, Carvers
Gap, Grassy Ridge, Roan High Knob, Little Hump Mountain and Hump
Mountain.
Thru hikers will travel
through Hot Springs, NC, which is a popular rest stop along the
2180+ mile Appalachian Trail. The trail travels thru the heart of
the town with most services located right along the "trail", which
is marked with diamonds in the sidewalk.
