The Andes Rail Trail is located in the village of Andes in Delaware County, just north of the Catskills. This 0.9 mile trail offers a pleasant hike or leg stretcher along an old railroad bed for travelers to the Catskills as it is located near NY 28. For those looking for more of a challenge can continue on the 1.1 mile Bullet Hole Spur Trail. This hike features the old railroad depot at the parking area. This short trail system is a cooperative effort between Andes Works, the Catskill Mountain Club and the Town of Andes.

Directions: Take NY 28 to Andes, NY. The trailhead parking area is located along County Route 2, just outside the town. The GPS coordinates are N42 11.182 W74 47.392 and there is a sign along the side of the road marking the parking area. Look below for some more info on the trail as well as a few pictures and a map.

This branch section of the old Delaware & Eastern, later known as the Delaware & Northern Railroad was locally known as the Andes Branch. This once was a nine mile branch of the railroad that ran from 1907 until 1925. Today the original depot is still there and almost one mile of the old railroad bed is utilized as the Andes Rail Trail. You can also explore the 1.1 mile Bullet Hole Spur Trail.
