Hiking in Cortland County Baker School House State Forest Loop

This loop hike of 2.8 miles utilizes one mile of the Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail and 1.8 miles of dirt roads. The hike is easy with an elevation change of just over 300 feet. You can also visit the old circular stone pool built by the CCC in the 1930's by heading 0.1 mile south on old Finger Lakes Trail where the trail meets Baker Schoolhouse Road. This would make your hike three miles.
Directions: From Mcgraw, NY take NY 41 SOUTH past Solon. Turn right on Baker School House Road. Follow road to the FLT/NCT trailhead on the right side of the road. There is parking on the left side of road for a couple of cars. You can also park on the corner of the DEC Rd where the DEC sign is for the state forest.
Mile Elevation Description 0.0 1528 ft From the parking area, go back down Baker School House Rd (east).
0.6 1669 ft Turn left on the DEC dirt road (state forest sign at corner).
1.7 1836 ft Highest point of this loop hike.
1.8 1825 ft Reach Finger Lakes Trail/North Country Trail, turn left on trail & follow white blazes.
2.8 1528 ft Reach Baker School House Road and the end of this loop hike.
