Hiking in Onondaga County New York State Lands Cicero Swamp

Cicero Swamp Wildlife Management Area is located in the northeastern corner of Onondaga County. At 3787 acres, it is the largest WMA in the county. Some popular recreational activities in Cicero Swamp include bird watching, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hunting, fishing and trapping.
Cicero Swamp is easily accessed by using NY 298 on the east, NY 31 all across the north and Taft Road from the south. Island Road, off Northern Boulevard provides excellent entry from the west. If you do explore this area, be advised that there are many who have had to be rescued out of the swamp from being lost.
