This is a pleasant 1.1 mile loop within High Vista Nature Preserve located off NY 41 just south of the Onondaga/Cortland County border.  For more information on High Vista Nature Preserve, click on the link which will take you to the Finger Lakes Land Trust website.

This hike starts off of Vincent Hill Road (seasonal dirt road at hike start).  There is parking at a plow turn around or in front of the "High Vista Preserve" sign on the side of the road.  From here follow the blue blazed trail into the woods.  There is a trail register almost immediately.  You will be ascending. At 0.3 miles reach the junction of the blue blaze trail split.  Turn left here.  At 0.45 miles cross a beautiful stream and at 0.55 miles the trail turns to begin a descent.  At 0.75 miles reach the junction of the yellow blazed trail.  Continue to descend on the yellow blazed trail.  The stream will be to your right and you will hear it as you walk.

At 0.85 miles pass big boulders and reach seasonal dirt Vincent Hill Road.  Turn right and follow road.  As you begin your walk back to your vehicle, stop and look at the numerous small waterfalls from the stream, then look across the road down the large ravine the stream has created. On your left there is a very steep trail that leads down along the ravine.  At 1.1 miles reach your vehicle and the end of this loop hike.  There is a total 236 foot elevation change on this easy, pleasant hike.  Look below for a topo map, pictures and a video of our hike.  Check the Finger Lakes Land Trust website for more info and another map of the area.
