The fire tower on the 2180 foot Kane Mountain is easily the most popular hike for those visiting Shaker Mountain Wild Forest and the Caroga Lake Campground area in Fulton County.  This is the easiest fire tower to explore in the southern Adirondacks.  The view from the top of the fire tower is spectacular at anytime of the year.

The main trail head that accesses the trail to Kane Mountain is from Green Lake Rd. The 0.5 mile trail climbs nearly 600 feet to the top of the mountain. Kane Mountain is part of the "
ADK Fire Tower Challenge".  A good resource we recommend is the Northville/Raquette Lake - Trails Illustrated Map # 744 from National Geographic.

Other short hikes worth exploring in this area include Broomstick Lake, Nine Corner Lake, Jockeybush Lake, Good Luck Lake and Good Luck Mountain Cliffs.  Also check out a day hike to Stewart Lake and Indian Lake.  Look below for a few pictures and a trail map courtesy of Andy Arthur from the AndyArthur.org website.  Another great resource in planning your hiking or camping adventure.
