In the Catskills there are thirty-five peaks that are over 3,500 feet in elevation and are noted in the Catskill 3500 Club. The Catskill 67 are the next highest peaks in the Catskills, of which, 63 are over 3,000 feet in elevation. These peaks are featured in a hiking guide, The Catskill 67, a recommended book from the ADK Mountain Club. North Plattekill Mountain at 3340 feet is the 53rd highest point in the Catskills, or #18 for the Catskill 67.

The hike to reach North Plattekill Mountain requires a walk along the ski trails from Plattekill Mountain Ski Center. The GPS coordinates are N42 17.329 W74 39.147 for the ski center. After parking, pick one of the ski trails and climb to the summit. Another route is from the end of drivable Upper Meeker Hollow Road, just past the Stone Tavern Farm Bed  & Breakfast. Park where you aren't blocking the business. You could even ask the owners where the best place to park so you aren't interfering with their business.

After parking, follow the woods road, known as the Meeker Hollow Bike Trail to the height of land, then turning left onto another woods road that will take you to the summit of North Plattekill Mountain. Some also hike to Meeker Hollow Mountain or even to South Plattekill Mountain to conquer other Catskill 67ers. Round Top is also in the area.

To get more detailed info on the hikes to North Plattekill Mountain and other Catskill 67 hikes, we recommend purchasing the hiking guide The Catskill 67. The book gives more info on the route to this mountain. Look below for a topographic map of North Plattekill Mountain to help assist in planning your hiking adventure.
