Appalachian Trail
from Milam Gap Overlook

A round trip hike of only 2.2 miles along the Appalachian Trail takes you over a young forest on land that once was an old farm and field. You may see a few old apple trees near Milam Gap. This is just a pleasant stroll along the AT to stretch out your legs from driving on Skyline Drive. This hike starts from the Milam Gap parking area at milepost 52.8 along Skyline Drive. Find the white blazed Appalachian Trail on the south side of the parking area and turn right following the AT into the woods. At 1.1 miles reach a trail post and Tanners Ridge Road. Here is your turn around point.
