Hiking in Seneca County Seneca Meadows Wetlands Preserve
|

Seneca Meadows Wetlands Preserve features 576 acres of wetlands, including 419 acres of newly created wetlands. The SMW Preserve has over seven miles of hiking trails that travel through forested land, lush prairies and along serene ponds. The trails are easy and can be enjoyed by all members of your family.
The newly created wetlands include emergent, wet prairie, wet-mesic prairie, forested wetlands, upland savannas and tall grass prairies. Overlooks provide better views of the preserve. The trails are open year round, dawn to dusk and there are no admission fees to explore the preserve.

When we visted Seneca Meadows we did a nice 4.5 miles loop hike featuring the ADA Trail, Main Loop Trail, Esker Trail, West Wood Trail, Blue Heron Loop, Oak Tree Pass and White Tail Run plus a trip to the Prairie Overlook. The trails seemed well maintained and you'll find a few shelters along the trails.
