This 11.1 mile section of the Appalachian Trail features a long stretch of the AT traveling along the scenic Housatonic River. This section of the AT also features the views from rock cliffs known as St Johns Ledges as well as the views from Caleb's Peak. There is one shelter available as well as two designated campsites along this scenic stretch of the AT.

Stewart Hollow Brook Shelter was constructed by AMC volunteers in 1987. The shelter sleeps six with a privy and tent sites located nearby. Water is available south of the shelter along the AT. Designated campsites are available south of Stony Brook. A privy is also available. The designated campsites on Silver Hill also includes an eating pavilion, water pump and privy.

This section of the AT starts where the trail crosses CT 341. There is parking available at a parking area where the trail crosses the road. The GPS coordinates are N41 43.865 W73 29.415. At 0.1 miles the trail crosses Macedonia Brook on a log bridge. At 0.6 miles reach the junction of the blue blazed Numeral Rock Trail. This was the old AT and is still used as a flooding bypass when Macedonia Brook floods. The side trail also features Numeral Rock, an overlook of the village of Kent. At 0.8 miles reach a ledge with views of Kent and the Housatonic River Valley.

At 4.2 miles the trail crosses the top of St Johns Ledges. Volunteers from the AMC installed ninety rock steps to replace eroded trail on St Johns Ledges. The view includes Kent and the Housatonic River Valley. The trail now descends to River Road, reached at 4.7 miles.

There is parking available where the trail reaches the road. This is a popular parking area because of St Johns Ledges. The GPS coordinates for the parking area is N41 45.469 W73 27.003. The trail now follows the road and begins a five mile walk along the river. At 5.7 miles the trail continues on the abandoned section of River Road. There is some parking available with the GPS coordinates of N41 46.084 W73 26.330.

At 10.2 miles the trail reaches a blue blazed side trail that travels to the Silver Hill Campsite with a good view to the southeast of the Housatonic River Valley.

At 11.0 miles the trail reaches an overlook along the northern side of Silver Hill. At 11.1 miles the trail reaches and crosses CT 4, which is the end of this section. There is parking available 0.5 miles east of the trail crossing, near where CT 4 joins US 7 across Cornwall Bridge. Look below for a map of this stretch of the trail.
