Baker Mountain, located in the McKenzie Mountain Wilderness is easily accessed from the village of Saranac Lake on a short 0.9 mile trail with a steep climb to one of the best views in the Adirondacks from its 2,452 foot summit. The trail has an elevation gain of over 900 feet, however offers outstanding views of the Saranac Lakes, the High Peaks and McKenzie Mountain Range. This very popular hike in the Saranac Lake area is part of the Saranac Lake 6er Challenge.

Trailhead: From downtown Saranac Lake, go up to Main Street to its intersection with Dugway; turn right onto and at the end of Dugway, then take the first left (Forest Hill Ave); proceed straight to Moody Pond, where trailhead is marked by a sign on the left.
