Finger Lakes Trail System
Depending on how far you want to hike, utilizing the Dabes Diversion Trail, Kuzia Cutoff Trail, Virgil Mountain Trail and the Finger Lakes Trail / North Country Trail as well as seasonal dirt roads, you can create the loop hike that best suites your taste within Kennedy State Forest. The state forest is located just south of Virgil, NY and features the highest point in Cortland County on Virgil Mountain at 2132 feet.
The Dabes Diversion Trail, Kuzia Cut Off Trail and Virgil Mountain Trail are all part of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System. This hiking trail system runs from Allegany State Park to the Catskills.
