Hiking in Wayne County Galen WMA

The 712 acre Galen Wildlife Management Area is located along the Clyde River near the small hamlet of Clyde off NY 414. This small WMA features the 2.2 Galen Trail that follows the path of an old railroad bed. The trail is level and easy.
You'll find this WMA along River Road, which is off Clyde-Marengo Road. There is a parking area near the gated trailhead on River Road just after you enter the WMA. The GPS tracks are N43 04.359 W76 53.849 for those who have a GPS devise in their vehicle. There is another parking area further down the road just after the bend along the Clyde River.
From Rochester or Syracuse, take the NYS Thruway I-90 to exit 41 (NY 414). Go north (left) for 8 miles on NY 414 to Clyde. As you enter the small hamlet of Clyde turn west (left) on to Geneva Street which turns into Clyde Marengo Road. Go approximately 1.5 miles and turn west (right) on to the River Road. You will enter the area within a few hundred yards, just after a small school on your right.
