The County of Ontario is located 8 miles from Rochester in the heart of upstate New York. Ontario County includes 2 cities, 16 towns, 8 villages, 2 colleges, and 17 school districts. The county seat was founded in 1789 within the historic City of Canandaigua. Over 100,000 people make Ontario County their home.
Ontario County is within the Finger Lakes Region of New York State and is a very popular tourist area. It is also a very popular destination for those looking for outdoor recreation. The 50+ mile Bristol Hills Trail northern terminus is located at Ontario County Park and runs through part of the county. The Bristol Hills Trail is a branch trail of the 900+ mile Finger Lakes Trail System. Ontario Pathways is popular with both bikers and hikers.
