Montezuma NWR Seneca Trail
|
This one-mile loop trail meanders the perimeter of the Refuge's headquarters. A walk along the canal, through an area undergoing reforestation, to the Visitor Center, observation areas and restrooms, the Seneca Trail can be accessed from the Visitor Center parking area and from the canal via the seasonal floating dock at the beginning of the Wildlife Drive.
While hiking this trail you will encounter restrooms, a couple of picnic tables, an observation tower, an observation deck as well as a pleasant walk along the canal.
Part of the trail was closed when we visited on 5/26/09 due to Osprey nesting and plans were to open the trail by summer. I am sure this happens every spring.
